I took an illustration class in college. There was a section in that class where we did some digital drawings and pretty much fell in love with it. It was familiar to me as a photographer drawing inside of Adobe Photoshop. I was so much more comfortable drawing digitally then in the physical world because let's face it, I'm not that great of an artist. Digital drawing was more forgiving to me and it didn't eat up any materials that I would have if I attempted it in real life.
Sometime after that class I decided to take what I learned in that illustration class and apply it the photographs that I made. The end result of that are these "Zombiegraph" doodles.
I realized it had been a long while since I've done one and with Halloween coming up I figured why not ask the people I work with at Austin Walsh Studio to pose as zombies.
Probably the most frequent question I get asked when I share these doodles. It's not an app. It's just a glorified tracing over a photo that I took. Because I get asked so often I figured I would just post some process images as well.
Quick. Dirty. Illustration + Photography. But more or less just glorified tracing.
